The Art of Handcrafted Soaps: A Behind-the-Scenes Look
Quality Ingredients do Matter
One of the key aspects of handcrafted soaps is the use of high-quality ingredients. The maker carefully selects their unique formulation of vegetable and fruit oils, butters, and additives to create a soap that is both nourishing for the skin and a delight to the senses. Ingredients such as coconut oil, shea butter and cocoa butter and cleansing French clays are a luxury often not found in commercially processed bars.
The Cold Process Method
Dear heart uses the cold process method to make their handcrafted soaps. This traditional technique involves mixing oils and lye to initiate the saponification process. The soap mixture is then poured into molds, where it cures for six weeks. This ensures the bars are hard and mild and perfect for use the time they leave our workshop.
Beautifully Designed and Scented
Handcrafted soaps are not only beneficial for the skin but also a delight for the senses. Additionally, essential oils fragrances are used to add delightful scents to the soaps, making our soaps aromatherapy in a bar. Our firm favourite is the Chai Latte soap fragranced simply with cinnamon and clove essential oils.
That Personal Touch
What sets handcrafted soaps apart is the personal touch of the artisan. Each batch of soap is carefully crafted by hand, ensuring attention to detail and quality. Each soap may have tiny imperfections showing that they are handcrafted and hand-boxed. Artisans such as Dear Heart take pride in their work, creating soaps that are not only functional, but also works of art.
Next time you use a handcrafted soap, take a moment to appreciate the craftsmanship and care that goes into making it. The art of handcrafted soaps is a labour of love that results in a product that is both luxurious and beneficial for the skin.
